Jongo.com is not dead yet

China Media News, along with many friends and colleagues, have noticed that Jongo.com and Jongo News remain up, and the sites are continually being updated. This, despite the fact that most of the staff were relieved of their duties on May 21. (And many others have since quit.)

Today, China Media News has learned that the UK-based investors behind the moribund portal plan to relaunch it in the future.

Staff in the Yidian Building on Zhaojiabang Lu in Shanghai have been asked to focus on another property, which can be found at baiditong.com. But sources inside Jongo confirm that once Baiditong becomes profitable, they will refocus on rejuvenating the Jongo brand and trying to break into China's crowded internet news portal market.

The Managing Director of Jongo once said, "It takes a long time to build a portal, but once it's profitable, it is basically like printing money." Expect to see more of Jongo in the future, just not the near future.
