Job Posting: City Weekend seeks entertainment editor in Beijing
With the fastest teams in the business - producing CW website, weekly email updates, supplement magazines and the popular biweekly Beijing entertainment magazine - at City Weekend we look for highly intelligent, capable people eager to expand upon or break into a career in media.
Positions at City Weekend are challenging. Each editor is responsible for managing various beats and community contacts to produce a range of events, entertainment stories, columns and critical venue reviews for arguably one of the most dynamic cities on the planet, Beijing, China.
The position available, "Beijing Entertainment Editor" requires strong story planning creativity and a dedicated interest in Beijing's Dining scene. Other beats include Community and Sports. The editor will also be instrumental in helping shape City Weekend's coverage of the 2008 Olympics and launching new products.
Successful applicants will:
- have previous editorial & media experience
- speak conversational Chinese with ease and clarity
- have strong writing skills
- offer creative design and editorial story pitches
- enjoy networking socially
- be familiar with and enjoy the dining scene in Beijing
- be extremely organized and resourceful
- be familiar with RSS, blogging, online social networking and other web 2.0 new media features
Successful editors develop a coveted group of magazine production skills (particularly in new media) and an extensive network of contacts to build off in the future.
